X2 1000 Install:

Note: The video above is for the RMAX but the steps are very similar. The main difference is the X2 uses a single  6-pin connector described below instead of the 4-pin and 2-pin connectors that the RMAX uses.

  1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the hood to gain access to the firewall panel .
  3. Remove that firewall panel by removing the 9 bolts that secure it.
  4. On the dashboard, there are pre-cut, rectangular switch holes. Choose the location you want to install the switch and remove the rubber plug.
  5. Insert the D-Mode switch connectors in first, push the wires through, and then push your switch into the hole until it snaps into place.
  6. Locate the bundle of wires behind the dash, near the steering column.
  7. Locate the 6-pin connector that only has 5 wires going in to it. Remove the dust/water plug from it and connect the D-Mode switch 6-pin connector to it.
  8. Turn the ignition key to the ON position and verify that the switch is successfully changing the drive modes.
  9. Reassemble the firewall and install the hood.
